- I want to thank everyone for their positive feedback and suggestions. We strive to make the open mic just that . . . open. Everyone is welcome to try anything. You can try something on your own or we can back you up too if you like. We are there to make you shine. There are a bunch of talented regulars, but we don't monopolize the stage if there is a full list of performers. Also, you can use our gear if you get the urge to step up. We get and welcome many first timer performers. Plus, the audience encourages the performers to relax and have fun.
Fran Carroll (7/2006)- Never heard of a event like this in the netherlands, on such regular basis. It was great to see all the different musicians and their own differrent style. Just to be able to perform or be part of a band must give every musician, starter or advanced, a great kick, and perhaps the best way for a try out, and find out what the audience think of it. So i wish you all the best, and keep on doing so. Greetings from the netherlands
Jan van der Mooren (10/2006)- Perhaps one of the best open mics around. No pressure from John and the boys. They make everyone feel welcome and relaxed to play whatever comes to mind. Trust me, I play some experimental stuff that isn't always good. But never has anyone been told not to play, or to play better. Enjoyment comes from watching people do what they do. There's no competition, no "their not bad but I can do better" attitudes. Mostly I think it's because everyone's a competent musician. It's a rare find and it inspires me to continue doing what I do. Thanks John, Fran, Rick and Jeff. You've helped without trying to. Also, KingGod rules!!! "How many guitarist does it take to screw in a light bulb?" "99… ,one to screw it in, the other 98 to say how much better they can do it."HA
Syllable Lisp (7/2006)- Wed 5/17 open mike night ~ I can honestly say, this is the first time in a long time the ice cubes in my drink didn't accidentally spill out of my glass and find there way on to the bar top as a result of the high wattage - acoustic guitars and some soft lead guitar in the backround work perfectly for my lil hometown kick back and relax Towey's ~ keep it up guys
anonymous (6/2006)- Great atmosphere, AWESOME crowd, very receptive! John's a great host, too, except for one thing---the Open Mic gets going way too late. The Internet says 9:00, he told me 9:15---it didn't start till after 9:30! Much as my Air Guitar Act was enjoyed (I'm known On Stage as Harry Casper), I had to stop after just two songs because time was running short for public transportation back home to Princeton, NJ. But at least I got to perform in Hatboro this time---unlike at Richie's Bar & Grill, whose OM doesn't start till 10! What is it with everything in Hatboro being so LATE?
Steve Lederman (3/2006)- WOW! - Some old, worth remembering tunes were played @ this open-mike! Let me clarify - they were tunes that I personally could relate to - they were playing music from my era and I appreciate that - Some lil diddies worth notating: "Wild West End" is an old Dire Straits tune that I never ever heard another band cover - @ least not in the musical arena in the Bucks County area - "Polythene Pam" by the Beatles was smokin hot! Alot of good acts come out & I would recommend carving out a lil of your time on a Wed night to go and see the musical talent that finds its way to Towey's on Wed evenings. :)
